Best of strap-ons – do you have one already?

Raise your hands if you think strap-ons are a typical part of lesbian sex! In my experience, this is the most divisive sex toy. I’ve seen all types from ‘I don’t want it like a man’ through ‘you can do me but I’m not putting it on’ all the way to real fans. Since I’m more of a fan than not, I’m happy to share my experience of many years. My aim is to present you with a guide that would have saved me hella lot of money back in the day.

We’re launching a new series, sponsored by vágyaim.hu, in which we discover the world of sex toys and accessories and discuss everything and anything from lube 101 to strap-ons, anal toys and nipple clamps. What, when, which one, how, how many times, why, why not? All questions you asked in embarrassment or did not ask at all, or if you did, you couldn’t find an answer. We are going to answer it all, including the questions you didn’t even know you wanted to ask!

In this category the price is in linear correlation with quality and durability. I’m not saying this to mean that you must blow a hundred Euros on a sex toy right off the bat, but if you’re looking for a long-term investment, you should not be too stingy.

For a complete beginner, a 30 Euros basic set is perfect, but in this case you can expect the harness to loosen too soon, the dildo to be too stiff, hard to adjust or ugly. Yes, ugly. I think I can speak for all lesbians when I say we do not prefer the veiny, life-like dildos with a defined head and balls. Unfortunately manufacturers seem to be under the impression that all women want this sort, so 80% of strap-on
accessories are life-like. Since I’m specifically looking for types that do not look like a real-life penis at all, here I’m trying to present the least life-like specimen for you.

What’s the point of sex with a strap? Both hands are free, so you have more pleasure- enhancing options during penetration. One hand on the clit, the other on a boob, or grab the butt and sexily fist her hair… I don’t think I need to list everything you can do with two free hands. Here I bring you my three favourite strap-ons, hoping you’ll find something you like.

SMILE Switch strap-on  - a beginner’s best friend

If you’re trying a strap for the very first time and you don’t want to spend a fortune, this tiny pink wonder is a perfect choice. The dildo’s insertable length is 14,7 cm with a diameter of 3,7 cm, fairly stiff, but the silicon has a nice touch. The harness is made of polyester, which is not the most comfortable wear, but the waist-band is a thick and strong rubber band, easily adjustable from panty size S to XL. It’s a surprisingly effective set for its price, stays in place reasonably well, so it works for more energetic bouts too. The one position we would not recommend it for is having your partner on your lap, because, due to the dildo’s stiffness, it’s hard to aim well with it. An additional advantage is that you can put any other dildo with a base into the black harness, though in this case you must keep the diameter in mind.

Perfect Fit ZORO 5.5 strap-on - the eternally grateful partner

Those who like sex with a strap and are thinking long-term will not be disappointed by Zoro. I’ve been using a Zoro strap-on for years, I found that this is what works best for me and I cannot recommend it enough for my friends to invest in this type. You can choose between two dildo sizes: the smaller has an insertable length of about 13 cm, the bigger slides in with 15,5 cm. The refined design and the pleasant touch are
peerless, you can feel that this is in fact a top- quality sex toy. The waistband is not adjustable, but it’s made of such a high-quality elastic, that it’s a comfortable wear from size S all the way to L. The supporting bands run under the buttocks, which is much more comfortable than the usual thong-like design. For me, this is the
top choice and the all-time favourite.

Extra tip: Since the dildo is hollow, you can try inserting a thin rod-shaped vibrator inside, your partner will surely thank you.

Strap-on-me S no-strap dildo- straight to the point

Though the idea that this type would pleasure both parties at once is alluring, I used to have some hang-ups with no-strap ‘strap-ons’. It would not stay in place, would only work in certain positions, would always slide out in doggy-style, or it was too hard and too stiff. So there was always something preventing me from fully enjoying the experience. Then came the Strap-on-me strapless 'strap-on'. It’s adjustable in the middle, at the thinnest part, so the two ends can be bent at the ideal angle for all poses. We tested it in a number of positions and it always held out, always stayed in place. It’s nice and soft to the touch, but this body colour and the knob at the end are kinda off-putting. If this is still an acceptable compromise, you’ll get a truly flexible toy to use in bed (or wherever you please). Size S has a 16 cm insertable length, size L a couple of cm- s more, but for that size the length of the vaginal egg is 11 cm instead of 6 cm, which is a significant difference.

If you’re unsure about how to put these strapless toys on, you can find some help in this guide at vágyaim.hu.

Keep the following in mind when using a strap-on:
