Our 15 favorite lesbian* characters on TV – Part 1

In the recent years, there are more and more lesbian* characters on TV (and Netflix of course). This is great because we love to watch people who are “like us”, plus it is just awesome for the visibility of the community.

Remember when we only had “Kismocsok” from reality show Való Világ? Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing bad about her, but the fact that she was the only representation of all us, that’s what was wrong. We lesbians* are not “one of a kind” and that diversity needs to be showed.

Exactly because of this it is not just the growing numbers that are to celebrate here. What’s even more important is that these characters are finally not “just” lesbians* (meaning: “the other”, “the miserable”, “the promiscuous”, “the male sexual fantasy”, “the abandoned”, etc.).  These characters are finally people, people who are good and bad, bright minds and poor decision-makers, fighters and caretakers, mothers and daughters, doctors and cops – and the list can go on. They are colorful, just like the rainbow, and just like us.

Check out Yosi’s and Anna’s top picks of badass lesbians* currently on TV.
