We have the route of the 29th Budapest Pride March

The Budapest Pride Parade, one of the country’s largest and most important human rights demonstrations, will take place again this year on the 22nd of June. The slogan remains the same: ‘Take back your future!’. The march will start in Podmaniczky Street, continue along Andrássy Avenue and end in the park in front of Vajdahunyad Castle where the Civil Village will take place and speeches will be held.

Budapest Pride imagines a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people do not face systemic and street-level discrimination based on their gender identity and/or sexual orientation, where LGBTQ people are fully accepted in society. The Budapest Pride Parade is one of the most visible and important elements in building, presenting and raising the visibility of the LGBTQ community in Hungary.

For years, nearly 35,000 people have been taking part in these human rights demonstrations. The route of the 29th Budapest Pride has been finalised after much deliberation, discussion and reflection.

This year, the march will start from the wide Podmaniczky Street at around 15.00. The next stop is Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, from where the marchers will turn onto one of the most popular sections of the route, Andrássy Avenue. This is one of the most beautiful avenues in the city centre and one of the favourites of the marchers, so after 2023, it will become part of the route again, all the way to Heroes’ Square. At the end, in front of the Vajdahunyad Castle, exciting programmes, performers and the Civil Village will await the participants.

The activities don’t stop with the march itself: from 22.00 in Budapest Park, the country’s biggest LGBTQ party, the Rainbow Party, will conclude the day.

The Budapest Pride March is a demonstration, anyone who agrees with its goals is free to join it. All key information is available on the revamped Budapest Pride website, Facebook page and Facebook event page.
