Parliamentary elections are going to be held on the 12th of April. We finally have a real chance to depose NER (National Cooperation System) after 16 years and set our country and our lives on a path toward a less dark future. The stakes are high; we must stand together! It is crucial to make our voices heard, to go out and vote, and encourage others to do the same.
We won’t tell you who to vote for (nor who we’re voting for), never have. However, we do emphasise the quest to GO AND VOTE. Our future is at stake – our shared and our own individual future as well.
Are you currently abroad? No problem! You don’t want to travel back to vote where your registered address is? No issues! Don’t have a Hungarian address anymore? Don’t sweat it! There’s still time to sort these matters out so you can join. We’ll share all the details below.
But first, one more thing: use your vote and try to make sure the people around you do too! If your mother is still undecided about who to vote for, talk to her. Secure another landscape-changing vote. If your friends are travelling during the election, help them figure out how to vote at a consulate. If the importance of this election in your friend group is not realised, or they [your friends] think their vote has no weight, convince them otherwise.
Now let’s look at the technicalities:
In case you are in Hungary on Election Day, but not within the jurisdiction of your registered polling place:
- You can register to vote at another polling place.
- The request to transfer your registration must be submitted by 16:00 on the 2nd of April 2026.
- Find the exact details here: https://www.valasztas.hu/en/atjelentkezesi-kerelem-benyujtasa
If you are abroad on Election Day
- You have the option to cast your vote at the foreign representation electoral register.
- To do so, you must apply for registration by 16:00 (CET) on the 2nd of April 2026 latest.
- Find the detailed information here: https://www.valasztas.hu/en/kulkepviseleti-nevjegyzekbe-veteli-iranti-kerelem-benyujtasanak-szabalyai
If you are without a Hungarian domicile
- You can cast your vote by (postal) mail (and in this case, you are only allowed to vote for a party, not for an individual candidate)
- You must submit your application by 18th March to be enrolled.

In the hope of sharing only tears of joy on April 12!
