Summer and its heat are on the way. To celebrate that, we collected Europe’s hottest lesbian* festivals.
L-Beach
13-15th April, 2018. Weissenhauser Strand, Germany
We missed this one this year, but as Europe’s biggest festival for women, it has to be on the list.
Filled with famous lesbian and bisexual musicians, celebritiess and many programmes, the festival attracts more than 4000 women to one of the prettiest seashores of Northern Germany every spring. Parties, concerts, movie screenings, physical activities, readings and talks- everyone can find their favourite activity here. It’s a must for Helena and Dylan fans!
L-Fest
13-16 July, 2018. Llandudno, Great Britain
The only lesbian* festival in Great Britain.
This year all the tickets have been sold in February, although the lucky ones from the waiting list might still make it to the long weekend festival of Wales, where the arts are the main focus. A member of qLit’s team, Zsófi was a volunteer at the festival last year, and she is planning to participate again. We can’t wait to hear all about her experiences!
L-Fest Del Mar
1-8 June, 2018. Dehesa de Campoamor, Spain
A vacation for women who like women.
The “vacation” version of L-Fest will be held in Spain. The programmes include pool parties with Europe’s coolest lesbian* DJs, concerts, karaoke, yoga, sandcastle-building competitions and volleyball championships. What else do you need?
Girlie Circuit
14-19 August, 2018. Barcelona, Spain
Europe’s biggest international lesbian* event.
Water park, music, culture, sports, seaside and huge parties. Girlie Circuit really knows how to party - jst check their promo video.
Ella Summer
30 August - 6 September, 2018. Palma de Mallorca, Spain
A festival for modern lesbians*.
Mallorca is a popular destination for the LGBTQ+ community, so it’s no surprise that it will give place for the sixth International Ella Summer Festival. This year among the usual musical and cultural freetime activities they are planning oddities such as Eco Day. It’s worth a shot to check out last year’s recap video.
Sappho Women / Eressos International Women’s Festival
8-22 September, 2018. Skala Eressos, Greece
A two-week long festival for women on the island of Lesbos.
The history of the festival dates back to 18 years ago, since then it became one of the biggest events among lesbian* cultural and art programmes. Sunshine, beach and lesbians*: Sappho’s hometown is the perfect spot for a late summer vacation.
+1 Velvet Ibiza
26-30 April, 2018. Es Canar, Spain
Four days of pool parties with music, sports and beach.
It’s clear to see that Spain is full of lesbian* parties, but Velvet Ibiza seems like the hottest of them all. Looking at the video from last year, all I can think of is how much I need to go to the gym. Gotta work on that beach body.
