In June—or sometimes in July—we celebrate Pride month around the world; and sure enough there are even some countries where well-known people and leaders voice their support for the LGBTQ+ community and celebrate with us. Even though COVID-19 makes celebrating in person difficult, those who want to find a way to stand up against hatred do. We gathered together some stars who expressed their support, either online or in person.
Miley Cyrus
Everyone’s favorite Miley didn’t disappoint her fans this year either. The singer has always been outspoken and stood by the LGBTQ+ community. In 2015, she even came out as pansexual. The Happy Hippie Foundation nonprofit organization, founded by Miley, is one among many fighting for LGBTQ+ rights.
After the release of her latest album Plastic Hearts, she remained active even during the COVID-19 pandemic, as much as was possible. For Pride she even gave a really colorful and gap-filling concert. The luckiest could see it in person in Nashville, Tennessee, but since then the whole program can be seen on Youtube. If her most iconic numbers don’t convince you, then Miley’s rendition of Madonna and Cher’s most famous music certainly will.
Kamala Harris
The United States’ 49th, and first African American and Asian American, vice president took part in the Washington Pride with her husband Doug Emhoff. Yes, there are countries where the leaders support the LGBTQ+ community.

Samira Wiley
The Orange Is the New Black and The Handmaid’s Tale actress got married to Lauren Morelli in 2017 and this year in April their baby was born. So, this year they celebrated with little George Elizabeth.
Lady Gaga
The singer’s Born This Way album celebrated its 10th birthday this year. For this occasion, in addition to the original songs, 6 adaptations were produced by queer performers with the undisguised goal of making the LGBTQ+ community more visible. Besides this, Lady Gaga also became the face of Versace, which also supports diversity with Donatella and Allegra Versace at the helm.
Demi Lovato
In May this year Demi came out as nonbinary, to which the podcast 4D with Demi Lovato devotes a whole episode: https://linktr.ee/4DwithDemi
In addition, their posts on social media have inspired and encouraged acceptance. For Pride 2021, Youtube launched a stream-series, in which Demi hosts a 60-minute program alongside Elton John, Olly Alexander, and Trixie Mattel.

Taylor Swift
The multiple Grammy award winning singer always openly stood by the LGBTQ+ community. This year, she voiced her support on Twitter, as part of the GLAAD LGBTQ+ organization’s campaign.
