Happy lesbian* Halloween for all!

If you’re ready to ditch the old zombie/witch/bunny costume for something more unique, here are some smart and practical ideas tailor-made for lesbians:

The cast of The L Word

We can safely call The L Word THE lesbian series. What’s more, after a 10(!) years break, on the 8th of December it’s bound to return to the screen. What better way to celebrate than to dress up as one of the characters? All you have to do is to pick a favourite scene, fish out an old T-shirt from the 2000s from the bottom of your closet (I’m sure we all own at least one of these cringey things) and to have fun.

Sappho

If you are going for the title of ‘Most Lesbianest Cosplay’, or if you simply wish to add a little culture to the party, Sappho is the perfect choice. All you need to portray the (allegedly) lesbian ancient Greek poet is a spare bedsheet from home and a pair of sandals. If you wish to be extra, you can also get a lyre.

Xena

If your aim is to portray a cool, sexy, strong, sometimes coarse character, Xena is perfect for you. Let’s face it, it’ll make flirting much easier.

The cast of Orange Is the New Black

The beloved series also proved to be a popular source of costume ideas, as the clothing is easy to acquire and you don’t even have to bother with hair and makeup, can work for couples and singles and everyone can find a character to fit their personality.

Madonna, Britney and Christina

Here I mean the exact iconic moment when, at the 2003 VMA awards ceremony, three of the biggest favourites of the gay audience shared a stage – as well as some kisses. The costumes are easy to make but spectacular, and if you keep together at the party everyone will get the reference.

Ellen and Portia

I don’t think I need to add anything here. Portia’s dress might be hard to make or buy, but it’s worth it.

Betty and Vilma

Wilma and Betty getting together could be the alternate ending of the Flintstones, but even if you only go as friends, you’re guaranteed to bring back happy (hopefully) childhood memories for all.

Jessie and James of Team Rocket

Team Rocket is an ideal couple costume, especially if one party doesn’t mind dressing up as a boy. The costumes may take a bit more work, but you’re guaranteed to stand out the most, and it gives you a good excuse to try out those loud, colourful hairstyles. Furthermore, you can re-define the phrase ‘cat lesbian’.
